El Regalo Embedded Reading Muchacha Nearpod Providing Support

Providing Support: UPDATES to El Regalo and Muchacha (Nearpod Post 3)

Isn’t it interesting that when grouped together, classes need varying amounts of encouragement, nurturing, shoring up, and reinforcement? I realized this, once again, as I was teaching my El Regalo Nearpod this week. This year I have a group of students who is every bit as capable as any other class I’ve taught, but for whatever reason is much less confident. This class is not at all comfortable with ambiguity. This is the group that wants to translate every single word in a story to ensure they have it right. My teaching style is much less about getting it exactly right and much more about supporting multiple correct ways of understanding, so at times, this class challenges me.
However, my number one job is to bolster their confidence. I simply cannot leave anyone behind; it goes against my nature. I quickly realized I had not provided enough pre-teaching vocabulary supports in this lesson. But the beautiful thing is that Nearpod.com is so easy to use, I remedied the situation in a matter of minutes!
I added:
  • picture/word matching activity,
  • a slide with either/or choices in sentences,
  • word/definition matching activity,
  • and fill-in-the-blank summaries.

Exactly what my students needed!

Here is an updated version of the El Regalo Movie Talk Nearpod.

And since I’m in the mood to update, I added similar activities to Muchacha: Una Cenicienta Moderna.

Here is a link to make a copy of the updated, way more scaffolded version.

Other additions:

I truly hope these resources help YOU provide support to your classes. My sincere wish is to help YOU to help your STUDENTS. So many in the Comprehensible Input/TPRS community have been so giving of their time, energies, resources, and encouragement to me that I’m paying it forward!
Happy teaching!
